# Locking Periods

When you are happy that a period is fully completed, you can lock the period. Only lock a period when you are happy that you are completely finished with that period's adjustments and ready to move onto the next month, as adjustments within a locked period cannot have their data edited, with one exception - the entry end date can be moved forward to an unlocked period, extending the adjustment. Adjustments that fully fall within locked periods are considered archived and do not count towards your total used adjustments.
